About the job


We are seeking a highly motivated Chief of Staff to report to the office of the CEO, that can establish and accomplish concrete goals in managing staff and resources to support the company’s mission. In this position you will act as a strategic advisor and principal liaison for the CEO. You will also support leadership in developing and implementing strategies to improve operational and administrative processes, and company culture, as the company rapidly grows.


What you'll be doing


  • Act as a strategic advisor and liaison to the CEO, helping to execute the company’s highest priorities while working on long-term special projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Proactively identifies opportunities to optimize the CEO's time, attention, and focus, implementing strategies to minimize distractions and alleviate stress.
  • Plan and prepare leadership, board, and all-hands meetings. Ensure that goals are understood, agendas are followed, action items are delegated with appropriate follow-up.
  • Expand and extend the leverage of the CEO on mission-critical projects that don’t clearly fit into any team’s responsibility or that would otherwise fall through the cracks.
  • Develop, implement, and improve frameworks for company-wide and team-specific goal setting and measurement in line with the company vision and strategy.
  • Build and develop relationships with all team members for increased efficiency and effective responsiveness regarding existing operations and help to define new operational strategies.
  • Support the CEO in executive hiring, recruiting, and onboarding.
  • Execute on defined strategies at events and media opportunities, conducting customized outreach, setting up meetings, preparing the CEO with pre-event briefs, coordinating and debriefing with the Fabric Cryptography team, managing spend, and measuring impact as relevant.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally through verbal and written mediums. Comfort with technical and business discussion. Ability to summarize, synthesize, and convey complex information in a concise and clear manner.
  • Manage critical cross-departmental projects and initiatives within the Technology organization on CEO’s behalf.
  • Research, analyze and present data or other information at a professional standard to various stakeholders.
  • Act as key advisor to the staff teams regarding CEO’s directives; take the lead in planning and executing key organizational initiatives related to technology, product roadmap, processes, and personnel, including driving and publishing regular Key Performance Indicators (KPI) indices to the broader organization.


Qualifications & experience required


  • Bachelor’s degree required in engineering or science discipline (MA/MS preferred)
  • Prior experience in a CoS role handling operations, engineering, and program management oversight.
  • Exceptional emotional intelligence and empathy, with a keen ability to recognize team’s needs and a strong sense of initiative to create a positive and efficient working environment for the CEO and the team.
  • Exudes integrity and personal accountability when engaging in executive confidential matters.
  • Prior experience taking a startup through rapid growth. (Tech hardware a plus)
  • General interest in next generation hardware, privacy, and security
  • A proactive and first-principles approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making skills.
  • Close proximity to our Bay area office - East Bay, Oakland, San Francisco, CA.
