Genies is looking for a creative and innovative Games Director with extensive mobile game design experience, exceptional user & product intuition, and a proven track record for shipping multiple mobile games.

Seated in our Los Angeles based headquarters, the Games Director will define the vision, systems, strategy, content and execution of our mobile gaming ecosystem. Our ideal candidate will have had experience partnering with 3rd party studios, and can serve as the go-to partner with such studios and our rapidly growing developer community. This strategic leader will conduct the due diligence needed to intimately understand Gen Z & Gen Alpha to deliver imaginative experiences and games that embody Genies vision of identity, self expression, uniqueness, community, and creativity. You’ll partner closely with our executive team to ensure the game vision is clear, and use your strong leadership skills to communicate the product’s goals and inspire our team to execute on them successfully. What You’ll be Doing:

• Game Development Leadership: Lead, inspire, and manage a team of game designers, artists, and developers to create exceptional mobile games. Ensure that all team members understand and work towards a common vision and goals
• Game Vision and Strategy: Define the creative vision for each project, including the gameplay mechanics, art >
• Mobile Game Expertise: Leverage your extensive knowledge of mobile game design to optimize game mechanics, monetization strategies, and user engagement. Keep up-to-date with industry trends and best practices
• Documentation: Create and maintain detailed design documentation, including game mechanics, systems, and features
• Project Management: Oversee the entire game development lifecycle, from concept to launch, ensuring the project stays on schedule and on budget. Provide clear direction, prioritize tasks, and remove obstacles for the team
• User-Centric Design: Champion a user-centric approach to game design and development. Gather and analyze player feedback, iterate on game design, and ensure games are highly engaging and enjoyable for our audience
• Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, artists, and marketing teams, to bring games to market successfully
• Quality Assurance: Ensure that all games meet high-quality standards, are free of critical bugs, and provide players with a polished and immersive experience

What You Should Have:

• 8+ years of experience as a Game Director, Creative Director or similar leadership role in mobile game development
• A strong portfolio showcasing successful mobile game projects
• In-depth knowledge of mobile game design principles, monetization strategies, and industry trends
• Extensive experience working with Unity 3D
• Creative thinker with a passion for pushing the boundaries of mobile gaming
• Exceptional project management and organizational skills
• Strong communication and leadership abilities, with the capacity to inspire and motivate creative teams
• Familiarity with the tools and technologies relevant to mobile game development, and a curiosity to understand future technologies and devices that will define the future of digital experiences
• Experience with avatar-based games is a plus

The actual base pay is dependent upon a number of factors, including: professional background, training, transferable skills, work experience, education, location, business and product needs, and market demand. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Full-time employees may also be eligible for equity compensation, in addition to a robust health, wellness, and benefits package.

Starting Salary Range: $150,000 to $300,000
