The opportunity:


Uphold is looking for a Junior Privacy Analyst to join our Information Governance, Privacy and Security team. This is an incredibly exciting opportunity where you’ll get to aid in the enhancement of our privacy and data protection program, strengthening customer trust and maintain compliance with rapidly changing global privacy requirements. In this role, you will be responsible for understanding and identifying, data privacy and protection requirements applicable to the organization. Support the development and implementation of privacy safeguards, aid in the development of documentation and program processes including; Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), Subject Access Requests (SARs), data mapping, control monitoring, and other compliance activities. You will additionally, work with internal stakeholders to conduct gap analyses on current systems and processes related to privacy safeguards and develop action plan(s) to address identified gaps. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the global privacy landscape, experience collaborating with teams to recognize and close privacy risks and be passionate about protecting the data privacy of our consumers, customers, and employees. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with a variety of roles in the organization, and the ability to manage multiple efforts concurrently is critical to this position. 


This is a junior to mid-level position reporting to the SVP, GRC, Privacy and Security.

This is a hybrid remote/office position. 


What you’ll be doing primarily:


  • Manage, maintain, and refine Uphold’s data processing activities and help drive implementation and enforcement of privacy policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs)
  • Proactively engage and partner with business and technology teams to ensure data protection and privacy standards are met.
  • Help educate teams and drive privacy as a mindset across the organization.
  • Educate leaders and team members on privacy and data protection requirements.
  • Manage data subject access requests (DSAR)


Required qualifications:


  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Technology or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years experience in Privacy, Information Security, Compliance or Technical Program Management.
  • Experience conducting data privacy assessments 
  • Proficiency in GDPR, CCPA, GLBA and other global data protection laws.
  • Attention to detail around controls and metrics.
  • Familiarity with the Fintech industry and nature of its data processing activities.
  • Strong communication skills 
  • Positive attitude, team player, adaptable, resourceful, and self-starter who is able to work independently.
  • Privacy and data security certifications preferred (CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM)
  • Fluent written and oral English skills.


Bonus if you have:


  • Knowledge of data security technologies, such as encryption, access control, access management, data management, threat management, and incident response is a plus.
  • Experience in risk management.
