Position Summary

The VP, Risk and Controls will play a crucial role in the development and implementation of risk management strategies and controls, ensuring that the company's portfolio of offerings remains fully compliant and secure. Reporting to the Head of Operations, the candidate will work closely with the Hex Trust team in taking the company to the next level.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement risk management policies and procedures to ensure safety and security in the delivery of Hex Trust’s products and services.
• Monitor and manage risks associated with the custody and servicing of digital assets, including operational, financial, and reputational risks.
• Work closely with other departments in creating and implementing effective risk management policies and procedures.
• Operational Risk - develop and manage the Operational Risk Framework including the Risk Registry, and Op Risk Incident Management and lead the development and implementation of the Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) and control testing programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
• Market Risk - develop and maintain the Risk Appetite Statement and for the Markets Business to ensure trading activities are conducted within approved Risk Appetite.
• Liquidity Risk - conduct oversight of liquidity risk for the firm, including the markets business and additional balance sheet management activities conducted by companies in the group
• Credit Risk - develop and maintain processes for assessing and controlling credit risk exposures from Markets activities including Financing and Trading
• Provide oversight and guidance to all operational teams to ensure that they adhere to policies, procedures, and controls.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and maintain relationships with regulatory bodies.
• Provide regular risk management reports to senior management and the Board of Directors.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience in risk management, internal audit, or compliance, with a focus on financial services and/or technology.
• Experience in the digital assets / blockchain space is preferred but not a must (though you must be willing to learn).
• A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. An advanced degree or certification in risk management is a plus.
• Direct experience in managing enterprise risk management frameworks and controls.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and assess risks and develop effective risk mitigation strategies.
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements for financial services.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present complex subjects to multiple audiences.
