Technical Product Manager, Crypto (SCI0022)
CipherTrace, a Mastercard company is a rapidly growing leader in cryptocurrency intelligence and compliance. Our team has introduced novel solutions to challenges including sanctions compliance for DeFi and the Crypto Travel Rule. Our mission is to grow the blockchain economy by making crypto safe for users and trusted by governments. CipherTrace operates on a global scale to assist banks, cryptocurrency exchanges, law enforcement agencies, regulators, VASPs and businesses in preventing fraud, human trafficking, money laundering, and other illicit activity where cryptocurrency is involved.
Overview
This is a scrum master position working within a new and exciting area of cryptocurrency using both agile scrumban (scrum/kanban) and SAFe methodologies.
Break down product/feature requirements and epics for the data engineering team into effectively pointed stories
Manages cross-functional team relationships to organize and accelerate delivery, ensuring all teams are delivering in a coordinated manner
Proactively manages all dependencies, ensuring all outputs are production ready at launch
Provides ongoing updates (with data) on the state of delivery
Drives architectural and technical decision making to ensure delivery of robust products and features
Role
This is a technical role that works closely with the Blockchain Product Manager, Software Engineers, DevOps, and internal customers to define the details behind the product/feature requirements, specifications, user experience, and crypto pipelines they own. This role is all about decomposing the requirements into epics, features, and user stories, prioritizing the backlog, and defining the acceptance criteria. This position feeds engineering a well-groomed backlog of user stories. As new capabilities are required, this role will define their place in the platform ecosystem and write/prioritize the user stories to enable a robust build.
Responsibilities
Decomposes problems into coherent units of work (ideation/conceptualization to execution). Organizes for optimal delivery. Negotiates priorities, facilitates progress, identifies blockers, raises visibility of issues to manager. Uses effective story pointing and ticket scoping to maintain velocity and hold delivery dates
Secures resources, scopes efforts, outlines priorities and establishes delivery milestones
Plans, executes, and delivers projects from inception to completion related to a known technology, product, or program. Describes and maintains the integrated plan that accounts for internal/external dependencies, differing delivery approaches, numerous constraints, and contingency for unplanned delays
Proactively manages the end-to-end delivery of engineering work through the organization and all dependent organizations, reporting out progress, ensuring dependencies are covered, overseeing the gaps between teams, processes, and systems, while removing all blocking issues leading to a successful delivery. Figure out the sequencing of the work so that engineering execution can be optimized
Works across teams. Actively manages dependencies and drives partners to meet program goals. May influence vendors and external partners.
Gets shared understanding and buy-in for a solution by describing what is being done and why it is impactful to Mastercard and our customers. Utilizes communications as a preventive control. Puts the right people in the room or on thread and give them the right data to drive decisions. Runs effective meetings and stand-ups. Builds consensus and documents decisions. Communications do not require interpretation/follow-up clarifications to understand.
Has experience in and understands both the crypto space and data streaming. Understands their program, product, or Technology domain. Sufficient depth/credibility to be effective with teams they work with. Can competently represent team’s services to stakeholders and other teams. May need to bring developers or SMEs to meetings to talk details.
Program strategy defined. Get guidance from peers and/or your manager as you ramp into the space and build your technical and domain expertise. Delivers independently but will occasionally seek direction from peers/managers
Optimizes previously defined approaches for a team or limited area. Can demonstrate improvements using data. Utilizes department mechanisms (i.e. retrospectives, staff meetings, status meetings) to describe and drive continuous improvements.

We are looking for individuals with:
A proven background as a developer or equivalent technical position
A proven background breaking down requirements into stories
Experience with and a deep knowledge of data streaming, databases, and architecture
Experience with Jira, Kanban, Scrum, and Agile methodologies
An interest in making the crypto economy safe and trusted
Experience with Kubernetes, Kafka, & Spinnaker platforms (desirable)
Experience with AWS/GCP cloud infrastructure & functional programming languages such as Scala (desirable)
Experience with gRPC frameworks (desirable)
Comfortable working with distributed teams located across US-West Coast, US-East Coast, UK, and Europe.
